Diabetes

In today’s generation, Diabetes(Diabetes mellitus) is the most common disease which arises due to a lack of insulin in the body. It is a metabolic disease that increases the sugar level in the blood. The amount of sugar in the blood is regulated by insulin. Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas which allows liver cells, muscle cells, and adipose cells to absorb glucose(sugar) from the blood and store glucose in themselves. That stored glucose can be used as a source of energy.

More glucose in the blood requires more insulin production to balance sugar levels in the blood. If there is low production of insulin in the body or insulin becomes ineffective in transporting glucose into the liver cells then it will increase the glucose level in the blood and cause diabetes.

Type of Diabetes:-

Type 1 diabetes– It is an autoimmune type of disease in which the body starts attacking its own cell. In Type 1 diabetes immune system attack and destroy pancreatic cell that secret insulin and then the pancreas does not produce enough insulin. Due to a decrease in insulin, glucose stays in the blood, and cells cannot absorb and store it. It will increase the sugar levels in the blood.

Type 2 diabetes– In old age people who are overweight, inactive, and have a very unhealthy lifestyle. In the insulin is not able to transport glucose into the cells from blood sufficiently. In type 2 diabetes, insulin is secreting but it is unable to perform its work, this is called insulin resistance. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the pancreatic cell cannot produce enough insulin to overcome insulin resistance.

There is another type of diabetes which is called diabetes insipidus. It is not related to diabetes mellitus. In diabetes, the insipid body starts removing too much fluid from the body. It will increase the rate of urination.
